TITO PUENTE JR AND HIS LATIN BAND
Tito Puente Jr & his Latin Jazz Band are coming The Palace with their high voltage celebration of jazz music and Latin beats. Baby it's cold outside, but this show is hot! hot! hot!
No doubt, every time Tito Jr. walks on stage – he walks in his father's footsteps. Heir to the throne of “The King of Latin Music” he is unmistakably the son, physically, spiritually and musically of Tito Puente, 10-time Grammy award winner, seminal bandleader, percussionist, and legendary good will ambassador of Latin music.
Salsa, merengue, and mambo! This is the music that moves your feet, your soul and your spirit.
Tito Jr. was born June 2, 1971 and raised in New York City, feeling the rhythms of the music before he could walk or talk. Naturally, his first instrument was percussion. He had no choice… there were 50 sets of timbales in the garage. Later he added piano, songwriting and producing.
Tito Jr. is on a passionate mission. He is determined to nurture the musical legacy left by his father. Salsa, merengue, and mambo! This is the music that moves your feet, your soul and your spirit. “There was magic in the music my father made. It made people happy, all over the world. My goal is to keep it alive, and in doing so, expose it to a whole new generation.”
Tito and his killer line-up of musicians have fast-become festival and theater favorites all over the world. Crowds once lured by his father's magic are returning to enjoy the son as he puts his own modern spin on the music. Join us on April 22 when they make their Palace Danbury debut!
