Once Were Brothers: Robbie Robertson and The Band is a confessional, cautionary, and occasionally humorous tale of the creation of one of the most enduring groups in the history of popular music, The Band.
Using a combination of archival footage, old photos, iconic songs, and interviews with musicians including Bruce Springsteen, Eric Clapton, Van Morrison, Peter Gabriel, Taj Mahal, and Robertson himself, the film documents how The Band went from backing up Bob Dylan to having their 1976 farewell concert filmed by Martin Scorsese for The Last Waltz.

Over 130 photos from Elliott’s 1968 photo sessions with The Band appear in the film Once Were Brothers. At 7:30pm Elliott takes the stage to reveal behind the scenes stories about the now legendary photo session.
These photos and others by Elliott including iconic shots of Janis Joplin, Bob Dylan, and Jimi Hendrix will be featured in our lobby Pop Up Gallery and store.
Landy became one of the first “music photographers” to be recognized as an “artist.” His work has been exhibited in galleries and museums worldwide and published on the covers of major US and international magazines and newspapers including the New York Times, Life, Rolling Stone and the Saturday Evening Post. He is the author of 9 books including his latest monograph, The Band Photographs, 1968-1969.
